Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, one of the most accomplished medical innovators of the modern era, issued a sobering warning this week about what he called a “noninfectious pandemic” of cancer sweeping across America—particularly affecting younger populations. Speaking on The Tucker Carlson Show, Dr. Soon-Shiong revealed that cases of aggressive cancers among children and young adults are on the rise and emphasized the need for a radical transformation in how the disease is understood and treated.
“I’m now seeing an 8-year-old, a 10-year-old, an 11-year-old, with colon cancer. We’ve never seen that,” Dr. Soon-Shiong told Carlson. “We’re seeing now 30-year-old, 40-year-old ladies with ovarian cancer. So this is a real phenomenon of a rise of cancer in young people. And we really need to get to the bottom of that.”
As Executive Chairman and Global Chief Medical Officer of ImmunityBio, Inc., Dr. Soon-Shiong has spent more than three decades advancing treatments for cancer and chronic illness. He has published over 100 scientific papers and holds more than 675 patents worldwide, reflecting his leadership in cancer therapy, biotechnology, nanotechnology, and artificial intelligence. His revolutionary cancer drug Abraxane, approved for metastatic breast, lung, and pancreatic cancer, has reshaped treatment and extended lives around the world.
The recent surge in early-onset cancers, he warned, may signal an underlying biological or environmental shift. His remarks add urgency to growing concerns in the medical community over the rising incidence of cancer in populations historically considered low-risk.
